The Shock World Service is a podcast started back in 2007 by Jon Averill as a way to further explore & expand musical horizons beyond the mainly dance floor-centric music he was playing at the time. More as a hobby, & a way to get into the then relatively new format of Podcasting.
And also partly as an antidote the cheapening of the mixtape format by the glut of .mp3 mixes online with no tracklisting, no artwork & no real attention to detail applied to them.

Each podcast has it's own title, artwork & occasionally a theme throughout. With each DJ also compiling notes as to why they picked each track. These notes are embedded in each mix & can be read on a podcast app or on this site as they're listening to each episode.
